State Representative Patt Maney convened recently with members of the Florida House of Representatives in Tallahassee for the first week of Legislative Committee meetings for the 2022-2023 Regular Session, as well as Special Legislative Session 2022-A to address rising property insurance costs to Florida families.

Recently appointed by Florida House Speaker Paul Renner, State Representative Patt Maney will serve as the Vice Chair of the Commerce Committee and Vice Chair of the Children, Families & Seniors Subcommittee for the 2022-2023 Regular Session. In addition to his leadership roles, Representative Maney will serve as a member of the Judiciary Committee, Civil Justice Subcommittee, Regulatory Reform & Economic Development Subcommittee, as well as the State Administration & Technology Appropriations Subcommittee.
The Florida Legislature is convened in Special Session 2022-A, December 12-16, to consider legislation to reduce the cost of property insurance litigation claims, foster the availability of reinsurance for property insurance, improve the financial stability of the Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, provide tax relief and other financial assistance to those properties damaged by Hurricanes Ian and Nicole, among others. Legislative committees begin meeting this week, with subsequent committee weeks beginning on January 3, January 17, January 23, February 6, February 13, and February 20. The 60-day Regular Session begins on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.
