Music, Comedy and Fun at Mattie Kelly Arts Center this Summer!

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office’s annual Back-to-School Splash Bash is sending students back to school with a splash!

The Back-to-School Splash Bash is an annual event that provides backpacks and supplies to hundreds of families in need before students head back to the classroom.

This year, the event will be held at Wee Care Park in DeFuniak Springs on Saturday, July 27 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Walton County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the community to come together to purchase supplies and backpacks for students either through Amazon Registry or PayPal donation. Scan a QR code to donate:

2024 Okaloosa County Candidate Forum
The Niceville-Valparaiso Chamber is partnering with the Emerald Coast Association of Realtors, Crestview and Destin Chamber to hold a 2024 Candidate Forum, Tuesday, July 9th, at 5 p.m. in the Niceville High School Auditorium​, 800 John Sims Parkway. Candidates for School Board and County Commission all plan to participate.

The 13th Annual Bluewater Bay Marina Pinfish Grand Nationals will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, 10 a.m. at the Bluewater Bay Marina Complex. There will be an Anglers meeting at 9:45 a.m. before the tournament. Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and also the Abram Sitcer Big Fish Award. Goody bags will be given to all registered teams. Junior Fisherman receives Tournament Shirt. Noah Detention Construction, Costa Enterprises McDonalds, Peoples National Bank, Gulf Shore Air, Ship’s Chandler, L4K Charters, West Marine and Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance are sponsoring and supporting the tournament along with Bluewater Bay Marina, LJ Schooners Dockside Restaurant & Oyster Bar and Bluewater High & Dry. Early registration is encouraged to secure t-shirt for Junior Fisherman. Early packet pick-up is Friday, August 2, from 6 – 8 p.m. at LJ Schooners Dockside Restaurant lobby. Rules: Timed tournament, fishing inside Ward Cove (BWB Marina) ONLY, two-person teams (Angler #1: 16+ yrs., Angler #2: 15 yrs & under), fishing pole use only. Teams provide their own fishing equipment and aggregate weight of 10 fish will determine the winner. Early registration—$25.00. Late Registration (August 2-3)—$30.00. L.J. Schooners to host Casino Night for CALM, a fundraiser with winners, prizes and gift baskets, Saturday, August 17, 6-10 p.m. Dress in your best Casino attire to support CALM and win prizes. All proceeds from casino-themed games and 10% of food sales will help CALM provide childcare while moms are in class and electricity during these hot months.
