Golf tournaments continue during the summer in Okaloosa County. Junior golfers age 8-18 participate each year in this challenging event held at Rocky Bayou Country Club. This year, the tournament was held on July 24-25, 2024. Always warm in July, the golfers were up to the challenge of this two-day event. The age group of Boys 8-9 played nine holes. All others played 18 holes for two days.
Tournament director, Dennis Attaway, was busy with his volunteers to be sure all players started off at the appointed tee times. Here are the first-place winners in each division:
Boys 8-9: Davis Grant won in a playoff over Cason Parish
Boys 12-13: 1st place – Aiden Yang. Aiden also finished with a tie for 6th place at the Optimist International at Doral last week out of 97 golfers from all over the world.
Girls 12-14: 1st place – Rayna Perkins
Boys 14-15: 1st place – Cooper Robley: Champion and Boys Overall winner
Girls 15-18: 1st place – Ariel Kim: Champion and Girls Overall winner
Boys 16-18: 1st place Colton Yarbrough
Congratulations again to these young golfers who continue to amaze parents and friends as they earn lower scores…yes, if you aren’t a golfer, you don’t know that a lower score is a better score.
