The Emerald Coast Chamber Music Festival has announced its lineup of concerts for the 2024 season. Speaking on the 2024 season, ECCMF Co-Artistic Director and international viola soloist Jacob Clewell states, “This year’s festival programming is enticing, I think, because we’re showing off music from composers we’re mostly familiar with, but not necessarily the music we know them for.”
The 2024 festival concert series features the ECCMF Artist Faculty in exhilarating performances of music by Brahms, Mendelssohn, and Beethoven, with less familiar composers like Florence Price and Masatora Goya peppered in alongside longtime favorites. In an exciting change for the 2024 season, the second Showcase Concert (to be performed by the Artist Faculty with guest artist Kirsten Yon, violin, on May 25th) has free attendance, offering an excellent way to kick off Memorial Day weekend. As always, the festival concludes with the Young Artists of the Chamber Music Institute showing off their skills in an afternoon of amazing chamber playing from classical music’s next generation of performers.
ECCMF boasts an impressive roster of internationally-respected Artist Faculty and masterclass Guest Artists, who pull double duty by performing in concerts and teaching the college-aged students of the Chamber Music Institute. The Institute is a major feature of the festival; participants are chosen by competitive audition for attendance, and travel to Niceville from top-notch music schools from across North America for the chance to immerse themselves in the intensive environment.
Public events at ECCMF 2024 run from May 19th to June 2nd. Most concerts take place in the intimate and acoustically brilliant Tyler Recital Hall in the Mattie Kelly Arts Center at NWFSC. Tickets are either free or $10 depending on the event, and are available through the Mattie Kelly box office and website.
