Ruckel Middle School Teacher and Golf Coach Qualify for U.S. Senior Open Championship

Jon Olson Qualifies for U.S. Senior Open ChampionshipThe Okaloosa County School District is proud to recognize Mr. Jon Olson, who qualified on Thursday, May 30, at the 2024 U.S. Senior Open Championship at Wynlakes Golf & Country Club in Montgomery, Ala. Eighty players competed to advance to the 44th U.S. Senior Open Championship. Jon Olson of Niceville, and Robbie Cotton of Brewton, Ala., each carded four under 68. After a playoff, Olson claimed the final qualifying spot.

“Entering the U.S. Senior Open Championship is a cherished milestone that reflects years of dedication, perseverance, and passion for the game of golf. As a player, teacher at Ruckel Middle School, and coach, this opportunity not only honors my personal journey but also serves as an inspiration to the students and golf enthusiasts. I’m grateful for the support of my family, whose unwavering encouragement has fueled my pursuit of excellence. I look forward to proudly representing them, the Rocky Bayou Country Club members, and my community on this prestigious stage in Newport, Rhode Island,” stated Jon Olson.
