In a remarkable celebration of growth and legacy, Rocky Bayou Christian School (RBCS) marked a significant milestone with the ribbon-cutting ceremony of Grete Hall. This event not only signifies the expansion of the school’s facilities, but also honors its rich history and commitment to academic excellence since its establishment in 1973 by Dr. and Mrs. Robert Grete, and Pastor and Mrs. Harold Thomas.
Niko Stubblefield, a board member and master of ceremonies, who is also a parent of two Rocky-lifers, led the event. Her connection to the school added a personal touch to the ceremony, echoing the sentiments of many families involved with RBCS.
Dr. and Mrs. Grete’s vision, which started with just 22 students, has now flourished into an institution already maxed to capacity with 1,050 students. Grete Hall stands as a testament to this growth, being the first new building in over two decades. The 20,000 square foot facility boasts eight classrooms, two science labs, a STEM lab and an innovative outdoor classroom.
During the ceremony, Pastor James Ross emphasized the school’s mission, praying for the building to be a tool in “training past and present leaders.” He asked that “the Lord be glorified by all that happens” in this building.
Dr. Michael Mosley, the esteemed Superintendent of RBCS, reflected on the journey, saying, “The founders kept their hands to the plow and didn’t give up. We are standing here today because they didn’t give up. They heard God’s call; they answered it; they devoted their lives to the mission and vision of the school.” His words resonated with the audience, reminding them of the dedication and perseverance that has shaped the school.
Highlighting the advancements, Dr. Mosley added, “We have done school under oak trees on concrete tables, and we know you can do school anyplace. But having a state-of-the-art facility is obviously a huge blessing for us, and we are anxious to take advantage of that.” This statement underscores the progress RBCS has made over the years, transitioning from humble beginnings to a modern educational establishment.
Classes in Grete Hall are set to commence in January, marking the beginning of a new era for RBCS. The event concluded with tours of Grete Hall, leaving attendees in awe of the new facility and excited for the future it represents.
Rocky Bayou Christian School, with a legacy spanning over 50 years, continues to uphold its commitment to providing quality education with a spiritual worldview. Under the leadership of Dr. Mosley, who has a distinguished career in education and administration, RBCS is poised to nurture future generations, staying true to its founding vision while embracing new opportunities for growth and learning.
