The Nutcraker

The magic of the holidays takes center stage this November as Northwest Florida Ballet celebrates its 47th annual production of The Nutcracker, bringing one of the season’s most beloved traditions to life at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center in Niceville, Nov. 20-22.

For nearly five decades, this enchanting production has delighted Emerald Coast audiences with the timeless story of Clara, her magical Nutcracker Prince and a journey into a world of dancing snowflakes, dazzling costumes and the unforgettable Sugar Plum Fairy. From the excitement of the Christmas party to the wonder of the Land of Sweets, it’s a holiday experience that continues to capture the imaginations of children and adults alike.

As the area’s only full-length presentation of The Nutcracker, this year’s production features more than 140 performers, including internationally acclaimed guest artists and more than 100 local children. For many young dancers, the opportunity to share the stage with professional artists is a dream come true, while audiences enjoy seeing familiar faces from their own communities become part of the holiday magic.

Adding to the enchantment, the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Northwest Florida Ballet Music Director and Conductor David Ott, will perform Tchaikovsky’s celebrated score live at every public performance. The combination of graceful choreography, beautiful costumes and the stirring sounds of a full orchestra makes this production an especially memorable way to welcome the holiday season.

Performances are Friday and Saturday, Nov. 20-21, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 22, at 2:30 p.m. Tickets start at $28 for adults and $14 for children ages 12 and younger, with three seating tiers available.

Whether it’s a cherished family tradition or a first introduction to the ballet, The Nutcracker offers a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the beauty, imagination and joy of the season.
