How are you handling life’s little frustrations? I know this article goes outside the immediate area, but I would bet everyone reading this article knows exactly how life in Destin has changed in the last ten years. I know for me, if there’s a bridge, it might as well be an international border requiring a visa because the chances of me crossing from Destin to Niceville or Fort Walton Beach are about zero. In fact, unless I am hopping onto a boat to go fishing, I’ll even avoid driving into the heart of Destin most of the year.
But, there are times when you just can’t avoid the traffic, the crowds, or Publix on a Saturday afternoon. Or you have a family in town who want to go hunt for a parking spot near a public access point to sit in a mass of chairs, coolers and people at that place we used to call the beach. These are the days that test our ability to let go of our stress and frustration and enjoy the tiny bits of happiness that are still here.
What does this have to do with hormones? Hormones help with muscle tone, weight loss, bone density, pain levels, sex drive, skin appearance, heart disease, breast cancer and more. One of those “and more” items are stress and anxiety. When you turn onto Highway 98 into a mass of tourists who are oblivious to everyone else on the road, have no issues crossing three lanes of traffic to turn left, and are more concerned with updating their Instagram than the traffic in front of them, hormones will help you stay calm and happy.
Hormones will help keep you happy and calm after you arrive at Publix on Saturday afternoon for some creamer only to find masses of tourists and empty shelves.
And when you decide to go to Smallmart with your list of essentials only to find that the most important item is not even sold at that location, hormones will help.
You see, hormones help you tolerate and even maybe enjoy the everyday events that might be causing you stress, anxiety and grief today. Even the small stuff like someone’s tone or attitude or the rudeness we see everywhere. Now, when I deal with a rude person, I kind of find pleasure in the fact that they can’t get me riled up. And, I understand that much of their problem is that they need their hormones.
If you find you are losing it in these situations, you should really give us a call. In my experience it’s much easier to find calm and humor in all the madness. Come see us and give us a chance to give you the relief you deserve.
