NWFSC Nursing Program one of Nation’s Best Affordable Institutions
Northwest Florida State College (NWFSC) was named by Forbes Advisor as one of the nation’s best affordable institutions in 2024 for RN to BSN Programs. Forbes Advisor evaluated 58 colleges, with NWFSC emerging as one of the top 10 schools providing an opportunity for students to earn the degree in as little as three semesters at a very affordable cost. According to Forbes Advisor, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is quickly becoming the industry standard for entry-level nursing practice, especially in hospitals. BSN graduates earn approximately $92,000 annually. Additionally, a BSN degree can equip nurses for graduate school and job advancement.
The NWFSC Nursing RN to BSN degree program (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) is designed for licensed registered nurses. This program provides nurses with the knowledge and skills to become nurse managers, case managers, hospital-based educators and more. The program content addresses high-demand nursing specialties. Clinical instruction targets the specific needs of special populations, including community and family healthcare.

Okaloosa Public Schools Foundation to Host the 4th Annual College and Career Fair
The Okaloosa Public Schools Foundation is thrilled to share news of the upcoming 4th Annual College and Career Fair, scheduled for Tuesday, March 12, at Beachside Community Church, at 200 Racetrack Rd NW, Fort Walton Beach. This year, we’re switching things up with a new format designed to provide attending students with abundant information on post-graduation employment opportunities, higher education, and military service. Juniors and Seniors from Choctawhatchee, Fort Walton Beach, and Niceville High Schools can register through the links below! Sessions:
8 a.m. – 10 a.m.: Fort Walton Beach and Niceville Students (Breakfast Provided)
11 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Choctawhatchee Students (Lunch Provided)
The OPSF College and Career Fair is not designed to be Drop-In Style this year. Please plan to stay for the entire Session. Attendees will have the chance to win prizes and gift cards! The event is free. Students are responsible for their own transportation. Registration is required.

FP&L Awards $200K in Grants to Help 28 Nonprofits
Florida Power & Light (FPL) recently announced it helped support a variety of needs in the community through 28 nonprofits in Walton, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa and Escambia counties with grants totaling $210,435. NextEra Energy Foundation, a charitable arm of FPL’s parent company, awarded the grants to the Northwest Florida nonprofits each quarter through 2023, with the last ones announced in December. The money will support their programs well into 2024. Foundation grants are focused on education, food insecurity, senior citizen support and child advocacy, as well as grants focused on environmental conservation and protection.
